Shoalhaven City Council recognised for Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure

Shoalhaven Swim | Sport | Fitness, a division of Shoalhaven City Council, is thrilled to announce that the Artie Smith Oval upgrade has been selected as a finalist in the Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure category of the prestigious UDIA industry awards. The winners will be revealed on Friday, 26 July 2024.

Since the grand opening in February, Artie Smith Oval has quickly become a centrepiece for local sporting groups. The facility has been delivered to a professional standard, boasting high-quality turf, state of the art lighting, and modern infrastructure and clubhouses, making it a premier destination for sports and events in the region.

Shoalhaven Swim | Sport | Fitness has already received numerous enquiries from various groups, including local and country cricket, AFL clinics, and various representative level sports, showcasing the oval's potential to host a wide range of events in 2024 and beyond. Currently, the revitilised Artie Smith Oval is actively used six days per week by local sporting groups.

The recognition as a finalist in the UDIA industry awards highlights the successful delivery of a premier facility that meets the needs of the local community while attracting interest for significant events in the Shoalhaven.

About the award

The Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure category recognises leadership and innovation in delivering services and/or social infrastructure developments, such as civic/community buildings, schools, and hospitals.
