At Bomaderry Aquatic Centre, we are incredibly proud to share the inspiring journey of Lincon, one of our amazing swim school students.
Lincon's story is a testament to dedication, perseverance, and the incredible impact that supportive swim coaching can have.
Lincon's love for the water began at a young age, and swimming quickly became one of his favourite activities. Since learning how to swim, Lincon has spent countless hours in the pool, refining his skills and embracing being in the water.
This year, Lincon was once again selected to represent Bomaderry High School as part of the South Coast Swimming Team at the State Swimming Championships. He was incredibly proud to be selected again, reflecting his hard work and determination in the pool.
A significant part of Lincon's success is thanks to his coach, Lorraine. With her unwavering support, guidance, and patience, Lincon has grown into a confident and strong swimmer. Lorraine's dedication to helping Lincon improve his stroke and strength has been instrumental in his development. She has spent countless hours working with Lincon, using innovative techniques to teach him the different strokes and modifying explanations to ensure he understands the rules of competitive swimming.
Lincon's journey has not been without challenges. Due to his different abilities, learning to swim presented unique obstacles. However, with Lorraine's help, Lincon has overcome these challenges and continues to thrive in the pool. His determination and resilience are truly inspiring.
Lincon dreams of competing at nationals and one day becoming a Paralympian. He is always working hard to improve his strokes and times, with the ultimate goal of achieving greatness in the pool. One of the standout moments in Lincon's journey was representing Bomaderry High School at the 2023 State Swimming Championships at Homebush. Seeing his name on the big screen and watching him compete on TV was a proud and unforgettable moment for his family.
Lincon's achievements extend beyond personal milestones. Qualifying again to represent his school at the 2024 State Swimming Championships makes his whole family incredibly proud. The competition was held on May 14 to 15, and was live-streamed on YouTube. Lincon competed in five races over two days, showcasing his determination.
In addition to the State Championships, Lincon will be competing in the upcoming Swim Club winter competitions and multi-class competitions, representing Nowra Swimming Club.
His journey continues to inspire those around him, proving that with perseverance, and the right support, you can achieve great things. Lincon's mum, Sherrin, adding: "Swimming has changed Lincon's life. Watching the independence swimming has given Lincon has been an amazing gift."
